Lap Loom Weaving with Natural Fibers

Join Chicago-based artist Despina Papadeas for an immersive lap loom weaving workshop that blends traditional techniques with contemporary craft. In this hands-on class, participants will learn the fundamentals of weaving on a lap loom, including warping, basic stitch patterns, incorporating a wide range of natural elements with traditional fibers, and finishing techniques.
Depy will guide students through the creation of their own woven piece, offering insight into her creative process and approach to texture, composition, and storytelling through fiber.
Designed for both beginners and those with some weaving experience, this workshop emphasizes experimentation and personal expression. Participants will leave not only with a completed textile piece but also with a deeper appreciation for the meditative and tactile nature of weaving.
